Hypnotic Trance Beginner Tips and Advice.

These are trance tips I have been collecting from helpful souls in the community as well as some of my own insights that I like to share with new people. Updated April 2026.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Credit to Entrancement The first thing you need to know about hypnosis is that it’s a completely natural state. People enter trances all the time without even realising that’s what’s happening.

Any time you become very focused on something, you’re in some form of hypnosis. It happens when you lose track of time because you’re embroiled in a book, it happens when you feel happy or sad because you’re emotionally invested in a movie, it happens when you daydream, or when you concentrate hard on study, or play, or you’re doing something complex but familiar that over time has become very natural to you, like driving home, drawing, writing, or even tying knots (if you’re into rope-play).

Any time you feel like you’re “in the zone”, you’re in some form of natural hypnosis.

Because it’s a natural state, very often people don’t realise that they’re even hypnotized. A lot of people expect to feel very different once they’re under, and just because they don’t suddenly feel like a zombie, slavegirl or robot, they’ll think that means they’re not under.

The blame for this lies largely with Hollywood.

Classically, (In most movies and TV shows) hypnosis is portrayed as a very unusual and mysterious state of mind, where the person in trance has no awareness or control of what’s going on. They’re often presented as being little more than a puppet or plaything, and the person who’s placed them in trance, (The Vampire, The Svengali, The Stage Magician) has total control of that person’s thoughts, actions and experiences.

Now… this can be how hypnosis works. Especially if your subject is attracted to the idea of feeling that way, but for someone who’s just interested in exploring trance itself, and hasn’t come to hypnosis through Hollywood’s or The Jungle Book’s portrayal of hypnosis, rather than blank minded obedience, most people will just feel very very chilled out within trance.

Trance and being a subject is a skill, but what does that mean?

Focus, and not just the paying attention kind of focus. The kind of focus that drowns out the world around you. As mentioned earlier when your absorbed in a book or game you’re in a form of hypnotic trance. You’re not thinking about what to have for dinner or recalling a funny scene from the show you watch earlier. Nothing else exists in your world except that point of focus. For hypnosis to work best it needs your complete attention. Being able to focus like that at will is part of the skill of trance and of being a subject.

Obedience. Ever played Simon Says? Ever tried to lose on purpose? It’s one thing to be told to do something and deciding to do it, it’s another thing being told to do something and not deciding, just doing. But handing over the keys to your body and mind is asking a lot, what if you’re told to do something you’re not ok with? No matter how deep you go a part of you a part of you is always listening, always keeping you safe. We call this Subject Agency. But no one likes a backseat driver, especially a hypnotist. Being able to keep that back seat driver quiet while still being attentive is part of the skill and takes practice, as is letting you subject agency relax.

If you are having trouble reaching trance.

  • Try different induction types. There are fast induction types that use things like rapid breathing and tensing muscles. Story Inductions. Body Inductions. Confusion inductions (works well for people with ADHD, overactive, or analytical minds). Loops and mantras. The list goes on. (I give examples later)
  • Try different hypnotists. Often, the right voice or style, speech pattern, or inflection can make a big difference.
  • Add visuals. Sometimes, having something to focus on visually can be very helpful. It can be an additional source of . Try some different patterns and use them in conjunction with audio files. Hypnospiral Visualizer is a simple but very costomizable tool for that.
  • If you have problems with focus and wandering thoughts Mindfulness Meditation can help a lot with this. Super simple but helpful skill.
  • Slow, steady breathing. It’s normal, especially with erotic content, to start breathing faster which can spike your heart rate and knock you out of trance. Try counting or repeating a mantra in time with your breathing.
  • Repeat what the tist says in your head OR totally ignore the words and let your subconscious absorb them while you focus on your breathing.
  • Find a tist who will do a personalized session for you. r/HypnoHookup has lots of people looking for subjects, and they will be able to adapt and adjust to better suit you. This is a specialized skill so don’t be surprised if there is a fee.
  • THC or alcohol can help relax your mind and make you more suggestable. I often take a gummy or have a couple drink before I listen to a file. I would recommend this only after you have succeeded at reaching a light trance first, otherwise your mind might expect to feel those effects during sober trance. You also shouldn’t take so much you can’t properly focus.

Advice from others

  • Credit to Erithan “Sometimes, it’s just a matter of finding a file that “clicks” with you, pushes the right buttons, listened to at the right time in a good headspace. It can feel magical. And to anyone still looking for that file, don’t worry about hunting down what worked for others, or something that’s “stronger’. It’s all subjective, keep exploring/experimenting and you’ll find what works for you!”
  • Credit to Ear-relevant-name “I used to have the same problem (Over active mind). My eventual solution was one that took a while to work, but eventually completely fixed the issue. I would pick a file, and listen to that one exclusively for a while, rather than picking different files when I would listen. But I intentionally wouldn’t actively listen. I intentionally let my mind wander wherever it wanted, including listening to the file if my train of thought lead there. And then I’d let it lead me away again to another topic, or just let it go black if that’s where it took me. Slowly but surely, it took shorter and shorter amounts of time for my mind to go blank. And when my mind was actually blank, it became better and better at listening SUBCONSCIOUSLY, rather than consciously, and I noticed myself actually following along with the induction without realizing. Relaxing without noticing I was doing exactly what the induction said. It took probably 3 months or so of doing this before I was consistently going under with the induction. Now I can listen to just about any quality file and go under with the induction on my first try.”

Also examine the things that are going on inside your head when you listen to a file. Some people force a “trancy feeling” into their minds, and while something like that can certainly help, it can also prevent you from entering trance if you have the wrong feeling in mind. It is probably better to keep an open mind and let the hypnotist guide you. Helping the process along as a subject comes later.”
  • Credit to DonHarold “Just as a bit of encouragement, no matter how “conscious” you feel during a session, you’re doing it right. The feeling of depth you’re probably expecting isn’t something you can actively will into happening. I’ve been in thousands of trances over the course of decades, and true depth didn’t come to me until I stopped focusing on what I wasn’t feeling, and started focusing on and enjoying what I was feeling. Once you’re able to relax into that and stop worrying about “doing it wrong” the rest will come naturally. Enjoy the journey instead of anticipating the destination.”

  • Credit to imberwolf814 “What helped me the most was listening to files at bedtime. At 1st, I thought I was falling asleep during the file, but I soon realized that I was regaining consciousness during the wakeners.”
  • Credit to SerialQ “The deep trance thing isn’t necessary at all. You can still get people to accept suggestions no matter what level of trance or consciousness they are in. When I’m doing hypnotherapy with clients, I usually suggest that they allow themselves to go to a level of trance where they feel the most comfortable in order to allow these suggestions to work better for them. If you don’t go into super deep trances, all good. It will still work for you. But if you’re really desperate to go into deeper trances, fractionation is the best way to do it. Just go into trance, emerge, go back into trance, emerge, over and over again. But ya, realize it’s unnecessary to do so, but fractionation is an easy way to get there if that’s what you’re aiming to experience.”

Where do I start? The following are some examples of different induction styles. Nerospicy (adhd, autism) people tend to have good success with confusion, convert, and overload than with progressive relaxation. Remember your Subject Skills!

So You Want To Be Hypnotized? by Shibby. Her beginner series is as high quality as they cum .

The Pet Test by VerityLey is a good confusion Induction. It’s was the first file that I had success with.

PM_Confusion_Induction by Miss_Praxis Relaxing confusion induction.

Brainwashing Machine by Shibby uses a loop induction that I really enjoyed.

Puppy Overstim Into Submission by Goddess Soft is a great overload induction. Her content is what worked best on me personally.

Useful Websites

The Hypno Collective is like the spicy hypnotists guild. The do collaboration projects. Multiple hypnotists may be in a file or have a file that relates to other files made by other creators.

Shibbydex Shibby is a very popular and very talented hypnotists that has an enormous catalog of files for just about every kink you can think of, and a few you can’t.

Lilithunleashed Lilith is another amazing hypnotist. Her site also allows you to mix and match Inductions with suggestion files for a more personalized experience.

Mistress Calia has lots of great guides for both subjects and hypnotists!

eSuccubus also has well as a good beginners guide.

Hypnotube Pornhub of hypnosis. Some real, some role play, some I’d rather not know, a lot of sissy stuff. We have a playlist of real ones that have been recommended to us.

F.A.Q.

There are two questions that get asked by just about everyone so I felt I should answer them here.

How do I have a HFO (Hands free orgasm)?

An orgasm is something that happens in your brain. An ejaculation is something that happens in your jibbly bits. These are two totally different and separate things. It’s totally possible to ejaculate, feel no pleasure from it, then ten minutes later get knocked off your feet by a surprise orgasm. With HFOs, don’t concern yourself with whether or not you wake up sticky. Just enjoy the pleasurable feelings. As you get more comfortable with what’s happening, you will start leaking pre during it, and eventually, that will turn into fully ejaculating, what we call a Wet HFO.

Tip: whenever you are given a pleasure trigger flex your pelvic floor muscle. That’s the one between your balls and butthole. Ladies you probably already know what a kegel is.

What is Bambi Sleep? Why is it dangerous?

Eventually you’re gonna hear about this and wonder. The files encourage you to make another personality that is called Bambi. Bambi takes the wheel, so to say, while you slip into the back seat for a nap. At first during the files, then in your private time, it becomes the thing you look forward when you have spare time. Eventually you start spending more time as Bambi than You. Mixed into that is the idea to introduce others to Bambi, to make more Bambies.

Credit to Hypnocircus “The whole series is designed like a textbook of cult indoctrination techniques. And from experience as a deprogrammer, I know it is used to prime some targets for human trafficking. So not only do you have those who the files compell to pull in more people, but you also have horrible excuses for human beings usign the files to prime victims for abuse.”

The End

I’m always adding to this list, so if anyone wants to contribute to it, please let me know, and best of luck to all of you on your journey.
